Friday 23rd October

The end of Autumn 1!

Good Fri-Yay Year Six,

Who learnt a new fact yesterday after completing the comprehension work? My memory was certainly refreshed!

Today I want you to think creatively and compose some engaging poetry on the theme of ‘Bonfire Night’.  The model text attached is very simple and I am certain that some of you can be far more creative! You will find some information about figurative language which is extremely useful when writing poetry. Remember that not all poetry needs to rhyme, but all poetry should help the reader to build pictures in their minds.

When you have completed your poem in rough, copy it out neatly and maybe add some illustrations around the border (maybe fireworks or the images mentioned in the writing).

I am happy for the poem to be word-processed or handwritten. Whichever version you use, please send me photos or files

This afternoon we had planned on treating everyone to an afternoon watching a film. We will save the ones purchased and watch together at some other point. So, I am officially giving you permission to watch a film (not play an online game) once your English and Maths work has been completed and emailed to Mr Martin or me.

I've included a link to a short video message from me. The year Six Team hope that you have a safe and restful half-term and we look forward to seeing you in November!

Take care,

Mrs Beddard
