History curriculum overview for Year 1
1) The children are introduced to the concepts of past and present and this encourages them to think about the changes in their own lives, in those of their families around them.
2) The children learn about two important events beyond living memory in British history. This allows children to develop their sense of chronology and consider why the events took place; its consequences; and the different ways it is interpreted.
