Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Hi Year 6

Welcome to your first term in Year 6. Already, there are many activities planned for you this term including visits to Shire Oak and Brownhills, plus a trip to Alrewas Memorial Arboretum - the dates for which we have listed on the diary page to help you and your parents plan. We will also be giving you a timetable and curriculum overview to inform you how the week will be planned and the topics you will be studying.

Leading up to Christmas is going to be a very busy time for all of us. We have the excitement of our Cantata and in addition to this we still have a lot more learning to do. Thrown into the mix will also be making soup in D.T. , programing games in computing as well as the Christmas fayre and Christmas activities.

This year is going to be an important and exciting year for you with lots of decisions to make so make the most of it by working hard and enjoying it.

Mrs Beddard (Team Leader and Class teacher 6B),
Mr Martin (Assistant Head and Class Teacher 6M),

Mrs McDermott (Higher Level Teaching Assistant for all Y6 and Teacher for 6M)

Mr Martin-Summers (Teaching Assistant for Y6)

A few reminders to help make the remainder of the year more successful:

  • PE Kit - Indoor and outdoor kit must be in school every Monday and go home every Friday to be washed. (Don't forget your spare socks)

  • Water bottles must be transparent and in school daily.

  • Please have the correct change to pay for your toast and bagels.

  • English and maths homework will be given on a Friday and must be handed in the following Tuesday/Wednesday. Spellings will be given on a Wednesday and must be handed in the following Monday. Occasionally this may change but we will make sure that you record this in your link books.

We ask that parents check and sign the home/school link books weekly as we will inform you of assessments results and any other important information regularly. Please do ask any member of the team if you have any concerns or queries and we will be happy to help.
