Year 6

Hi Year 6

This half term we will be starting our history work on Ancient Greece. This will include making a Greek style pot in our art lessons. You will have received a curriculum overview detailing the topics we will be teaching in each of the other subjects.

We will also be continuing with our additional Maths and English lessons in preparation for the tests in May and have been really impressed with the progress shown during the practice SAT’s week.

During this half term, we will have a further parents evening to update you on your child’s progress. Please ensure your appointment has been made. Later in the month the children will be weighed and measured. Their results will be forwarded to you by post. We will also be welcoming some Shire Oak ambassadors into school who will be working with some of our year 6 pupils. In addition to this, we will be taking a trip to Shire Oak for a Science Showcase. More details will be given to you nearer the time.

Keep up the hard work year 6 – you are making great progress!

Mrs Beddard (Team Leader and Class teacher 6B),
Mr Martin (Assistant Head and Class Teacher 6M),

Mrs McDermott (Higher Level Teaching Assistant for all Y6 and Teacher for 6M)

Mr Martin-Summers (Teaching Assistant for Y6)

A few reminders to help make the remainder of the year more successful:

  • PE Kit - Indoor and outdoor kit must be in school every Monday and go home every Friday to be washed. (Don't forget your spare socks)

  • Water bottles must be transparent and in school daily.

  • Please have the correct change to pay for your toast and bagels.

  • English and maths homework will be given on a Friday and must be handed in the following Tuesday/Wednesday. Spellings will be given on a Wednesday and must be handed in the following Monday. Occasionally this may change but we will make sure that you record this in your link books.

We ask that parents check and sign the home/school link books weekly as we will inform you of assessments results and any other important information regularly. Please do ask any member of the team if you have any concerns or queries and we will be happy to help.
