Year 6

Spring

Hi Year 6,

Welcome back to St. Michael's and a happy new year to you all.

This term we will be introducing plenty of new learning, including Evolution and Inheritance in Science, web page creation in Computing and combatting Racism in RE. Furthermore, we will be undertaking a 'Class Orchestra' themed topic in Music and studying Mountains in Geography - take a look at our curriculum overview for Spring 1 for further details.

This half term will also include a practice SATs week. We do this in order to give the children a taster of what the real SATs week will be like in May, including procedures and test conditions. This way, the real week will feel less daunting as the children will know what to expect. You have worked really hard towards your SATs so far Year 6, so I'm sure you will continue to do so!

As a quick reminder, you need to bring your P.E. kit into school every Monday ready for the week ahead - PE days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure that you always have your water bottle in school. It is important that you read regularly and ask your parents to sign your reading record book every week. Also, don't forget your house points!

Do keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming events and, as always, a member of the Year 6 team will message any updates regarding changes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to any of us or message us via Weduc.

Mr Jones, Mrs Beddard, Mrs Jennings, Mr Martin-Summers,  Mrs Radburn, Mrs Passmore, Miss Hateley.

A few reminders to help make the remainder of the year more successful:

  • PE Kit - Indoor and outdoor kit must be in school every Monday and go home every Friday to be washed. (Don't forget your spare socks)

  • Water bottles must be transparent and in school daily.

  • Please have the correct change to pay for your toast and bagels.

  • English and maths homework will be given on a Friday and must be handed in the following Tuesday/Wednesday. Spellings will be given on a Wednesday and must be handed in the following Monday. Occasionally this may change but we will make sure that you record this in your link books.

We ask that parents check and sign the home/school link books weekly as we will inform you of assessments results and any other important information regularly. Please do ask any member of the team if you have any concerns or queries and we will be happy to help.
